A Lot Meant For More

This project transforms a traditional allotment site into a vibrant, multi-use green space that balances food cultivation with community engagement and ecological awareness. While maintaining individual plots for growing produce, the design introduces shared features such as a winding path, playground, seating areas, a communal tool shed, and a small café opportunity. Inspired by the productive structure of English allotments and the socially oriented approach seen in Norway, the space encourages a broader range of users, including families, casual visitors, and those with limited time. The project shifts the focus from maximising yield to fostering inclusivity, biodiversity, and shared care, creating a welcoming environment where gardening becomes a catalyst for conversation, education, and connection.
