The Unity Ascent

This project is a conceptual response to the limitations often found in conventional social housing, aiming to demonstrate how architecture can offer more than just functional shelter. Located in a suburban area within walking distance of a commercial arcade and open mall, the design explores the potential of shared space, identity, and visual expression within a dense residential context. It introduces an inviting entrance, sculptural vertical circulation, and a bold rooftop canopy that becomes a visual marker in the skyline. The roof is programmed as a publicly accessible gathering space with an amphitheatre, café booth, and open seating, alongside private garden areas reserved for residents. The project integrates social and spatial strategies to support well-being, autonomy, and community engagement, positioning social housing as a site of opportunity rather than compromise.
