Shards of Glass

The project is rooted in the concept of urban mining, specifically addressing the untapped potential of discarded architectural glass. Glass panes removed during demolition are rarely recycled due to their complex coatings and compositions, yet they retain significant material and aesthetic value. This initiative establishes an experimental brief that reclaims these panes and reimagines their use in architecture. By applying both subtractive techniques, such as cutting, and additive methods like fusing, the project investigates ways of manipulating glass for construction. The architecture itself serves as a testing ground and exhibition space, revealing the creative and structural possibilities of reused glass while challenging traditional notions of waste and material life cycles.
